Based on cantonal legislation regarding promotion of economic development in the Canton Grisons (economic development law, Wirtschaftsentwicklungsgesetz GWE; BR 932.100) the canton can provide financial support or offer loans.

The amount of financial support available is governed by the funds determined in the budget of the Grossen Rat (cantonal parliament). The canton must make a decision on possible provision of financial support before start of the work or construction project concerned, i.e. as a rule, a request for support must be submitted to the canton 2 months before start of work, construction or ordering.

If a decision is not possible before start of work or construction, an application for an exceptional permit must be submitted to the Economic Development and Tourism and Agency. Requesting financial support from the canton is not possible if work or construction has already commenced.

The parliament of the Canton Grisons or the Department for Economic and Social Affairs decides on provision of financial support according to cantonal legislation (GWE).

Possibilities for providing support and assistance
The following possibilities exist at cantonal and federal levels for provision of support to assist the realisation of selected projects which create or secure workplaces or otherwise enhance the value of the Grisons as a business location.
